Previous training in the subject is not required. Class membership includes practicing artists and educators, students planning to enter the field of education or to make a career of any of the arts, college students, professional and business people, and laymen.
The requisites for admission are: the assurance of regular and punctual attendance, and the possession of an open mind and of a genuine interest in taking an active part in the work and in carrying out all designated assignments.
Applicants are interviewed during the summer months. Membership in each class is limited.

The Barnes Foundation is a privately endowed, nonprofit educational institution. No tuition fee is charged.
